Stuart’s life is full of adventure and he has quite a few run-ins with Snowbell, the household cat. His parents and brother, George, take care to be sensitive about the fact that he is a mouse, even banning songs like “three blind mice” from being sung in their household. Stuart’s size quickly becomes quite helpful for things like finding precious rings that fall down the drain and fixing sticky piano keys. Little named him Stuart, and decide to love him like any other child. Stuart Little was born, just two inches high, to a family of humans and looked very much like a mouse! How do you try and bring some of Stephen Merchants visual characteristics (if at all) into the mouse? Things like matching mouth movements etc? Stephen Merchant voices Miika who is the animated mouse in the movie. With all our projects we strive to deliver the highest standard of VFX, but I think with A Boy Called Christmas it’s about helping create the suspension of disbelief, making a magical experience that draws in viewers of all ages. I think with holiday films there’s a certain magic to it – Christmas especially is a time where most people like to believe in the good. The cake city that Miika eats his way through was entirely CG based on an Art Dept practical model.Ĭhristmas movies often have an indescribable feel to them that makes them feel “Christmassy” – can you articulate what you think that is and how you try to make the VFX feel authentic to that?
